Prairie Thunderstorm
Oil on canvas, unframed.
12” X 36” X 1/2”
I painted this while I was an artist-in-residence at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, Iowa. At this residency, I developed an interest to paint stormy skies as we witnessed a tornado warning one day. This captivating painting portrays immense, brooding storm clouds looming over the expansive, lush prairie. The play of shadows on the landscape beneath the clouds adds an intriguing depth to the scene. Executed in a realistic style, the painting effectively captures the dynamic essence of a stormy spectacle amidst the serene expanse of nature.
